Lismore's leaders have thrown their support behind a bid to bring triple J's One Night Stand to Lismore.
The event has not been held for five years, and some locals think Lismore is the fitting place to host its resurrection.
Lismore MP Janelle Saffin says "go for it" in promoting Lismore as the prime location, and Mayor Steve Krieg has also thrown his support behind the bid.
A social media post supporting the bid says: "With one of the biggest artist populations outside the cities we are the perfect place to host it. It would be a boost for our flood recovery and for local businesses".
Triple J says the event "is back and ready to make a regional town a live music capital for one unforgettable night". It is calling out for communities to make their pitch as to why their town should be the lucky host.
In partnership with Music Australia and raising critical funds for Australian music industry charity Support Act, triple j's One Night Stand returns for an epic one-day, all-ages, drug and alcohol-free live music event.
In the past, they have taken the event to towns like Alice Springs, Port Pirie, Dubbo, Geraldton , Mount Isa, and St Helens, and brought artists like Flume, The Jungle Giants, Rufus, Tash Sultana, Pnau, Silverchair, Tkay Maidza, Ocean Alley, Meg Mac, A.B Original, Matt Corby, and heaps more along for the ride.
We think Lismore could do with an "unforgettable night" of music, so encourage everyone to get behind the bid to host the event.
