The only daughter of Elvis Presley died in hospital aged 54 after being found unresponsive at her Los Angeles home on January 12.
The Los Angeles County medical examiner has determined Ms Presley's death was due to a small bowel obstruction caused by scar tissue that developed after a previous bariatric surgery.
The weight-loss surgery is designed to make the stomach smaller so a person feels full after eating a small amount of food.
Ms Presley was found by her ex-husband on January 12 who called 911.

She was taken to hospital and pronounced dead just after 5pm.
Ms Presley's death was confirmed by her mother Priscilla Presley.
"She was the most compassionate, strong and loving woman I have ever know," she said in a statement at the time.
Ms Presley had appeared at the Golden Globe Awards just days earlier to support Baz Luhrmann's film Elvis.
On July 13, Ms Presley's eldest daughter Riley Keough picked up an Emmy nomination for her lead role in TV series Daisy Jones & The Six, with the actress paying tribute to her late mother.
Ms Keough shared a photo on Instagram of her mother and late brother, who died by suicide in 2020, with the caption "missing you both".
