'Traumatic and confronting': Grim discovery as four people found dead

The bodies of a teenage boy, a woman and two men were discovered by a relative just before 2am on June 25 in the northern Melbourne suburb of Broadmeadows.

The bodies have not yet been formally identified but police believe the two adult men were 32-years-old and 37-years-old respectively while the teen was aged 17 years and the woman was aged 42 years.

Detective inspector Dean Thomas said the four bodies were found in the loungeroom.

"It's unusual that we find four people deceased on the same property," he said.

"There is nothing at this stage to suggest that there have been any acts of violence but there are some injuries we need to account for.

"We're trying to piece together the connections.

"I appeal to anybody who may have any knowledge of what happened here," he said.

It's believed that one of the deceased lived at the house while the other three were visiting.

The four, who were all know each other, were last seen alive a day prior to the grim discovery at 2am on June 24, police said.

Victoria Police was called to the Bicknell Court home after a neighbouring relative said he peered in a window of the home and saw his nephew, the teenaged boy, dead.

He said he smashed a window to gain access to the house.

Detective inspector Thomas said the relative was reeling from the "traumatic and confronting" discovery.

The relative said he believed a drug overdose could have killed the group but police said the cause of death was yet to be determined.

Investigators said suspected drug paraphernalia was found in the home.

Detective inspector Thomas said the older man, the woman and the teen were known to police and investigators were determining if the 32-year-old was also known.

The investigation is ongoing and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
