The acquisition of the land will allow the authority to provide about 85 homes on land that did not flood in 2022. It is to the west of Dunoon Rd and flanks the North Lismore Plateau.
Parliamentary Secretary for Disaster Recovery and Lismore MP Janelle Saffin stressed that the parcel of land was not subject to any Land and Environment Court proceedings, and had no cultural or environmental concerns.
The land was part of Stage 1 of the Winton Group's development and has development approval.

The release of land in North Lismore had been highly anticipated, and is the sixth site to be released through the $100 million Resilient Lands Program.
This follows previous announcements at East Lismore, Goonellabah, Brunswick Heads, Casino and Lennox Head, with more than 2800 housing sites now in the planning pipeline across the Northern Rivers.
North Lismore will be master planned and developed in consultation with the community, taking into consideration the site's environmental, biodiversity and cultural significance.
As with the other sites, those who received a buyback would be given priority access to the North Lismore site.
The new housing development adjoins the site where The Rivers Richmond River High Campus will be built.
