A South Australian failing to wear a properly adjusted and fastened seatbelt could expect a $537 fine and the loss of three demerit points.

Queensland drivers caught speeding by less than 11 kilometres per hour would be fined $322 and given one demerit point.

South Australians speeding up to nine kilometres over the limit would attract a $304 fine and two demerit points.

Fines for speeding less than 15 kilometres over the limit in the ACT start at $316 and attract one demerit point.
Vic
Speeding by less than 10 kilometres per hour over the limit in Victoria attracts a $247 fine and one demerit point.
NT
For breaking the speed limit by less than 15 kilometres per hour a Northern Territory driver could expect a fine of $150 and one demerit point.
NSW
Drivers in NSW travelling less than 10 kilometres per hour over the speed limit attract a penalty notice fine of $137 and one demerit point. Penalties increase with speed.

Drivers in Western Australia face a $100 fine if detected speeding up to nine kilometres over the limit.

Penalties in Queensland for driving while using a phone are severe. Drivers could attract a fine of $1209 and four demerit points for illegal phone use.
WA
Not far behind the severe penalties in Queensland, Western Australians could face a $1000 fine and four demerit points for writing a text or email, looking at a photo or video or checking social media.
SA
In South Australia the penalty for using a mobile phone while driving includes a $658 fine and incurs three demerit points.
ACT
Penalties for holding a mobile phone while driving in the ACT include a $514 fine and three demerit points. That penalty increases to $632 and four demerit points if drivers are caught sending a text, checking socials media or using the internet.
Vic
A $593 fine and four demerit points apply to Victorians caught using a device while driving.
NT
In the Northern Territory the penalties for using a phone is a $500 fine and incurs three demerit points.
Tas
Tasmanian drivers could be fined at least $390 and slapped with three demerit points for playing with their phone while on the roads.
NSW
Motorists using a mobile phone while driving could be fined $387 and $514 in a school zone, as well as attracting five demerit points.
